George Bay


George Bay (52˚18'00" 131˚20'00" Head of Skincuttle Inlet, SE Moresby I, QCI), George Island (52˚21'00" 131˚13'00" One of the Copper Is, entrance to Skincuttle Inlet). Mining engineer Francis Poole gave the name George Hbr to the entrance to Slim Inlet, just S of today’s George Bay, while prospecting in the area in 1862. George M Dawson of the Geological Survey of Canada changed Poole’s name to George Bay in 1878. The hydrographic service later transferred the name to the current bay....
