Frolander Bay

Frolander Bay (49˚45'00" 124˚17'00" E side of Malaspina Str, NW of mouth of Jervis Inlet). Nils Frolander (1839–1908), a native of Sweden, established a fur-trading post and homestead at this location in the 1880s. He and his wife, Annie, also ran a post office there, named Froek, 1894–1902. Frolander was an early pre-emptor in W Vancouver as well, at Caulfeild, where he is listed on the application as a millwright; he sold this land as soon as he obtained a Crown grant for it.
