Foster Point


Foster Point (48˚58'00" 123˚40'00" S end of Thetis I, Gulf Is). Marine engineer and machinist Robert Foster (1857–1933) was born at NY and came to Victoria with his parents in 1860. He married Mary Jane McKinlay (1863–1918), from Ft Erie, Ont, at Victoria in 1883. Foster worked for BC Towing and Transportation Co and served on a number of historic vessels, including the Beaver, Grappler, Pilot, Sardonyx, Cariboo and Fly, Gertrude and Joan.
