Florence Island


Florence Island (51˚32'00" 127˚32'00" S of Ethel I, Rivers Inlet). Florence Horsfall Walbran (1873–1950), born in Lancashire, UK, was the eldest daughter of Capt John Walbran, noted mariner and author. She married Thomas Hugh Worthington, also from Lancashire, at Victoria in 1916. Capt Walbran named this feature in 1890 while making a survey of Rivers Inlet with the Canadian Pacific Navigation Co steamship Danube.
