Flamingo Inlet


Flamingo Inlet (52˚13'00" 131˚21'00" SW side of Moresby I, QCI), Flamingo Rock (53˚38'00" 133˚00'00" Athlow Bay, W side of Graham I, QCI). The 41-m, 241-tonne steam trawler Flamingo, built at Hull, England, in 1885, was owned by Capt Absalom Freeman, founder of the New England Fish Co (forerunner of the Canadian Fishing Co). He spent much time off the W coast of the QCI in the early 20th century and made important sketch maps of the area that were later used by the hydrographic service....
