Fisgard Island


Fisgard Island (48˚26'00" 123˚27'00" W entrance to Esquimalt Hbr, just W of Victoria). HMS Fisgard served on the Pacific Station, under Capt John Duntze, 1843–47, and was one of the first RN vessels to anchor in Esquimalt Hbr. Lt Cdr James Wood of HMS Pandora, who surveyed the harbour in 1847, named many of its features after the Fisgard’s officers.
