Evinrude Inlet


Evinrude Inlet (52˚48'00" 129˚05'00" E side of Laredo Inlet, Princess Royal I). “Surveyed by Evinrude” was a notation occasionally found on blueprints for W coast nautical charts, especially in the 1940s. According to records at BC’s Geographical Names Office, it meant that “a rough sketch” had been made in that area “from timing a rowboat powered by an Evinrude outboard engine.” The name Evinrude Inlet was adopted in 1944.
