Equis Beach


Equis Beach (48˚58'00" 125˚18'00" N side of Sechart Channel, E of Lyall Point, Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Equis is the original name of the abandoned First Nation village of Tseshaht (Sechart). It is also the name of the Nuu-chah-nulth reserve at this location. The Tseshaht people, who are part of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council and based today at Port Alberni, were once a whaling culture.
