Edna Mathews Island


Edna Mathews Island (51˚35'00" 127˚33'00" N of Walbran I, Rivers Inlet). Edna Mathews married fellow Univ of Toronto student George Darby in 1914 and moved with him to the central BC coast, where he became a well-known Methodist medical missionary based at Bella Bella. Edna played an important role in early mission activities but moved to Vancouver in 1923 for the Darby children’s schooling.
