Bute Inlet


Bute Inlet (50˚21'00" 125˚06'00" Between Toba Inlet and Loughborough Inlet, NE of Campbell R). Capt George Vancouver named this feature in 1792 after John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute (1713–92), a Scottish nobleman and British PM, 1762–63. He was a close associate of Frederick, Prince of Wales, and his son, the future King George III, who later turned against him.
