Buckley Point


Buckley Point (53˚56'00" 130˚06'00" E side of Telegraph Passage, S of mouth of Skeena R, SE of Prince Rupert). Capt Cecil William Buckley, VC (1830–1872), was on the BC coast in 1868–69 as cdr of the 17-gun HMS Pylades. He won his VC in 1855 in the Crimean War by twice landing and, under heavy enemy fire, setting important Russian stores ablaze and destroying them.
