Buccaneer Bay


Buccaneer Bay (49˚30'00" 123˚59'00" Between N and S Thormanby Is, NW of Sechelt, Str of Georgia). Many features around the Thormanby Is (qv) were named in 1860 by RN surveyor Capt George Richards after the Epsom Derby, won that year by racehorse Thormanby. Buccaneer was one of the favourites but faded in the stretch and ended well back in the pack. He won the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot, however, the following year.
