Boundary Bay


Boundary Bay (49˚02'00" 122˚56'00" On the US-Canadian border between White Rk and Tsawwassen), Boundary Bluff (49˚00'09" 123˚05'25" S of Tsawwassen Beach, SW of Vancouver). Named in the 1860s because of the international boundary, which passes through the bay and just S of the bluff. On their 1792 expedition to the PNW, Spanish explorers Dionisio Alcalá-Galiano and Cayetano Valdés called this bay Ensenada del Engaño, or Gulf of Deception, perhaps because of its shallowness.
