Beechey Head


Beechey Head (48˚19'00" 123˚39'00" S tip of Vancouver I, W of Becher Bay). Rear Adm Frederick William Beechey (1796–1856) was a prominent RN navigator and geographer. In 1818 he served under Lt John Franklin (the future famed Arctic explorer) on Capt David Buchan’s expedition to Spitsbergen.
