Batt Rock


Batt Rock (48˚49'00" 123˚25'00" SE entrance to Ganges Hbr, Saltspring I, Gulf Is). Robert Barrie Batt (1823–86) was master of HMS Ganges and served on the Pacific Station, 1857–60, under Capt John Fulford. The 84-gun vessel—the last active line-of-battle sailing ship on foreign service in the RN—was the flagship of Rear Adm Robert Baynes, the station’s cdr-in-chief.
