Bain Point


Bain Point (54˚02'00" 132˚35'00" W side of Naden Hbr, N end of Graham I, QCI). Named for Archibald Bain (d 1890), chief engineer of the RN paddle sloop Virago, under Cdr James Prevost, during a survey of N Graham I in 1853. Bain accompanied the Virago’s master, George Inskip, in the ship’s boat for an initial examination of Virago Sd and Naden Hbr. Inskip named nearby Isabella Point after Bain’s wife at the same time.
