Awaya Point


Awaya Point (52 ̊18'00" 131 ̊08'00" S entrance to Ikeda Cove, SE side of Moresby I, QCI). Named for one of the principals of the Japanese fishing firm Awaya, Ikeda and Co, active in BC in the early 1900s. Arichika Ikeda, the other company owner, found copper ore near here in 1906 and established a profitable mine at Ikeda Cove.
