Armstrong Point


Armstrong Point (48 ̊40'00" 123 ̊24'00" SE point of Tsehum Hbr, NE side of Saanich Peninsula, N of Victoria). Named in 1934 after Wilson Joseph Armstrong (1828– 1917), who was born in Que and moved W to California in the 1850s in search of gold. His wife Letitia (1830–1905, née Breaky) and their children followed at a later date. Armstrong was a wheelwright by trade and worked in San Francisco and, later, Victoria as a carriage maker.
