Alford Reefs


Alford Reefs (54˚18'00" 130˚30'00" S of Tugwell I, Chatham Sd, W of Prince Rupert). Rev Charles Richard Alford was principal of the Church Missionary Society college at Highbury, London, 1854–64. The name was suggested by William Duncan, founder of the famous mission at Metlakatla, who trained at Highbury for two years. Alford, born in 1816, was also Bishop of Victoria, Hong Kong, 1867–72.
