Aitken Islands


Aitken Islands (52˚37'00" 128˚48'00" S of Princess Royal I in approach to Laredo Inlet). George Griffith Aitken (1884–1955) was appointed chief geographer for BC in 1912. He later sat on the Geographic Board of Canada as the BC member (1924–39 and 1943–45). He served in both world wars, achieving the rank of maj in the first and lt col in the second.
