Agnew Bank


Agnew Bank (54˚11'00" 130˚19'00" SW entrance to Porpoise Channel, S of Prince Rupert). Named by the hydrographic service in 1945 after Augustus W Agnew, a native of eastern Canada, who was one of the original GTP surveyors at Prince Rupert (1906–14). He served in WWI as a maj with the Canadian Pioneers, was wounded in action and died Sept 17, 1916, at Amiens, France, aged 35, leaving a wife, Martha (1881–1967), and two children. He is buried at Contay British Cemetery, Somme, France....
