Yale Convention


YALE CONVENTION, 14 Sept 1868, was a meeting of 26 delegates from around BC who favoured CONFEDERATION with Canada. Anti-confederationists called it the Yale Conspiracy. The objective of the meeting was to show that union enjoyed widespread support. Delegates passed resolutions in favour of immediate confederation, responsible government, a reduction in the cost of the civil service and reciprocity with the US.
