WOLF (Canis lupus), also known as the grey or timber wolf, is a carnivorous mammal, the largest wild member of the dog family. An adult male may weigh up to 45 kg. Wolves prefer remote, timbered habitat and are active mainly at night when their distinctive howl may be heard. They range in colour from white to black though grey-brown is most common.
