WEBSTER, John Edgar "Jack," journalist (b 15 Apr 1918, Glasgow, Scotland; d 2 Mar 1999, Vancouver). Raised in a working-class home, he left school at age 14 to work at a newspaper in his native Glasgow. After serving in the British Army during WWII, he moved with his wife Margaret to London to work as a reporter on Fleet St, then immigrated to BC in 1947. He joined the VANCOUVER SUN newspaper, then in 1953 switched to radio as a public affairs commentator and later talk-show host on stations...
