THOMAS, Philip James "Phil," teacher, folk song collector (b 26 Mar 1921, Victoria; d 26 Jan 2007). He moved to VANCOUVER in 1936 and during WWII served overseas in the RCAF as a radar technician. He returned to UBC after the war, and graduated with a BA in 1948 and a teaching certificate in 1949.
