Tchesinkut Lake

TCHESINKUT LAKE, 14 km south of BURNS LAKE, was first settled by Tom Kelly, a prospector, in about 1910. More homesteaders arrived after WWI; they built a school and post office and began LOGGING and a SAWMILL operated during the 1930s. TOURISM has become important and the lake, with its resort, is a popular sport FISHING destination. The name is a DAKELH (Carrier) name for "clear waters."
