TAYLOR, Alfred James Towle, engineer, businessman (b 4 Aug 1887, Victoria; d 20 July 1945, NY). He apprenticed as a machinist before moving to VANCOUVER, where he paid for his engineering studies by running a boarding house. In 1912 he founded what became Taylor & Young Engineering, which built various large projects around the province.
