Stukus, Annis


STUKUS, Annis, sports personality (b 25 Oct 1914, Toronto; d 20 May 2006, Canmore, AB). A veteran FOOTBALL player with the Toronto Argonauts in the 1930s and 1940s, he came west in 1949 to organize and coach the Edmonton Eskimos franchise in the CFL. The team he put together won 3 consecutive Grey Cups in 1954–56, but by that time he had moved to VANCOUVER as coach and manager of the new BC LIONS, which took to the field in 1954; he remained coach until 1956 and returned to Vancouver in 1967...
