STAMP, Edward, sawmill manager (b Nov 1814, Alnwick, England; d 17 Jan 1872, London, England). He went to sea as a young man and by 1857 was captain of a vessel that visited Puget Sound to load lumber. The following year he opened a general store in VICTORIA, then returned to England to arrange financing for a SAWMILL at ALBERNI INLET.
