Sorrento


SORRENTO, pop 1,197, overlooks the west arm of SHUSWAP LK from the TRANS-CANADA HWY 78 km east of KAMLOOPS. It was established as a fruit-growing area in 1910 by J.R. Kinghorn, a promoter, but it became a summer vacation service centre for the western Shuswap area. Kinghorn named the site for the Italian town where he spent his honeymoon.
