SINGH, Mayo, mill owner (b 1888, Paldi, India; d 23 Feb 1955, Paldi, BC). He arrived in California from his native Punjab in 1906, then worked his way north to join his brother, who was already living in BC. After entering Canada illegally—immigration from India was severely restricted at the time—he found work in a series of SAWMILLS in the BC Interior.
