SHIPMAN, Nell, actress (b 1892, Victoria; d 1970). Born Helen Foster Barham, she moved to VANCOUVER as a child and joined a vaudeville touring company in her teens. After marrying Ernest Shipman, a theatrical promoter from eastern Canada, in 1911 she moved to California and entered the film industry as a writer, actress and producer.
