Seabird Island

SEABIRD ISLAND, pop 535 (2001), is in the FRASER R between AGASSIZ and HOPE. It is named for a PADDLEWHEEL STEAMBOAT that ran aground in 1858. It has been a STO:LO First Nations reserve since 1879 and became the site of the annual Earth Voice Festival, the successor to the Voices for the Wilderness Festival in the STEIN Valley.
