Sayward, William Parsons


SAYWARD, William Parsons, lumberman (b 9 Dec 1818, Thomaston, ME; d 1 Feb 1905, San Francisco). A carpenter by trade, he came west to the California goldfields in 1849, then moved north to VICTORIA in 1858 and went into business supplying Puget Sound lumber to local builders. By the 1860s he was the pre-eminent lumber dealer on VANCOUVER ISLAND.
