SALVATION ARMY is a CONSERVATIVE PROTESTANT religious denomination that originated in Great Britain in 1865 with the work of William Booth, a disaffected METHODIST preacher. It came to BC in 1887 when the first members arrived in VICTORIA. Congregations were established in NEW WESTMINSTER and NANAIMO in 1888 and in KAMLOOPS a year later.
