Porlier Pass


PORLIER PASS, between VALDES and GALIANO islands, is the middle of 3 main channels leading from outer GEORGIA STRAIT to the calmer inner waters of the GULF ISLANDS (ACTIVE PASS and GABRIOLA PASSAGE are the others). Known also as Cowichan Gap, it has tidal currents up to 9 knots and is considered one of the best fishing areas in the islands.
