Pitt Meadows


 

PITT MEADOWS, city, pop 19,146 (2021), occupies the north bank of the FRASER R 30 km east of VANCOUVER. First known as Bonson's Landing, it took its present name from the Pitt R, its western border, which was probably named for the British Prime Minister William Pitt the Younger. The original inhabitants belonged to the KATZIE Nation of the STO:LO people; their descendants still live on 5 RESERVES in the district and make their living mostly from commercial FISHING.
