Paterson

PATERSON, 15 km southwest of TRAIL on Little Sheep Crk in the W KOOTENAY, is a border crossing and former station on GREAT NORTHERN's Red Mountain Rwy. The proposed post office name, was Barney, after a hopeful settler, but it was rejected; Thomas W. PATERSON, railway contractor and BC LT GOV from 1909 to 1914, was honoured instead.
