OCTOPUS is a carnivorous marine MOLLUSC, related to the CLAM, OYSTER and SNAIL but without the shell. A member of the class Cephalopoda, which also includes SQUID, the octopus has a baglike body and 8 long arms equipped with powerful suckers.
