NEW STAR BOOKS, a VANCOUVER book publisher, traces its roots to a group of writers associated with the GEORGIA STRAIGHT who in 1968 began publishing a series of small books known as the Georgia Straight Writing Series. The series evolved into Vancouver Community Press (VCP) which, in the early 1970s, became increasingly interested in social and political non-fiction and less interested in literary publishing.
