Miocene

MIOCENE, 33 km northeast of WILLIAMS LAKE on the road to HORSEFLY, is a tiny AGRICULTURAL and LOGGING settlement that probably got its start as a roadhouse during the GOLD RUSH to the CARIBOO. It was named after the old Miocene mine on the Horsefly R. The Miocene is a geological epoch that lasted from 26 to 12 million years ago.
