Mimic Thrush


MIMIC THRUSH belongs to a family of long-tailed birds including catbirds, mockingbirds and thrashers that are somewhat drab in appearance but have loud and varied songs. Some mimic the songs of other species. The grey catbird (Dumetella carolinensis) breeds throughout BC's southern mainland and is most abundant in the OKANAGAN VALLEY and in the valleys of the SIMILKAMEEN and S THOMPSON rivers. Its catlike "mew" can be heard coming from dense thickets in deciduous woodlands or along riversides....
