McLEAN, Ernie "Punch," hockey coach (b 3 Nov 1932, Estevan, SK). A legend of Canadian junior HOCKEY, he was among the most colourful personalities ever involved in the game. Scotty Munro became his mentor while McLean was playing for Munro's Humboldt Indians in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in the 1950s and the pair had many successful seasons running the Estevan Bruins, first in the SJHL and then in the WHL, which they played a major role in organizing.
