Maxwell, George Ritchie


MAXWELL, George Ritchie, Presbyterian minister, politician (b 11 Jan 1857, Stonehouse, Scotland; d 17 Nov 1902, Vancouver). He was a COAL miner by the age of 11, but he managed to complete his schooling and in 1880 graduated from theological college an ordained minister. Five years later he immigrated to Quebec; in 1890 he took charge of the First PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH in VANCOUVER.
