MAREGA, Charles (Carlos), sculptor (b 24 Sept 1871, Lucinico, Italy; d 27 Mar 1939, Vancouver). He was the first professional sculptor to work in BC. After studying sculpture in Italy, Vienna and Zurich, he arrived in VANCOUVER in 1909 on his way to California. He remained in Canada when he received a commission for a sculpture of David OPPENHEIMER.
