Lord, John Keast


LORD, John Keast, naturalist (b 1818, Cornwall, England; d 9 Dec 1872, Brighton, England). After training as a veterinarian and practising briefly, he left England to follow a series of adventurous pursuits in different parts of the world. He arrived in BC in 1858 as assistant naturalist to the Northwest Boundary Commission marking the border along the 49th parallel from the coast to the ROCKY MTS (see BOUNDARIES).
