Latimer, Frank Herbert


LATIMER, Frank Herbert, irrigation engineer (b 23 May 1860, Kincardine, ON; d 10 Feb 1948). He was responsible for designing and constructing the irrigation systems that allowed the development of the TREE FRUIT industry in the OKANAGAN VALLEY. He was brought to BC in 1891 by Lord Aberdeen, who had just acquired the Coldstream Ranch and wished to plant orchards. Latimer designed a system to obtain water from Aberdeen Lk via the Grey Canal.
