Johnson, Pauline


JOHNSON, Pauline, poet, stage performer (b 10 Mar 1861, near Brantford, ON; d 7 Mar 1913, Vancouver). She was born on the Six Nations Reserve, the daughter of a Mohawk chief and a Quaker Englishwoman. She began writing in her teens and her first poem was published in a New York magazine in 1884.
