HENDRY, John, pioneer lumberman, railway builder (b 20 Jan 1843, Belledune, NB; d 17 July 1916, Vancouver). After early training in the SAWMILLING business, he came to VANCOUVER in 1872, then went to Washington state and worked as a millwright for 2 years. In 1874 he was hired to oversee reconstruction of the burned-out MOODYVILLE SAWMILL, and stayed to work as night superintendent.
