Hat Creek


HAT CREEK is a historic ranch 11 km north of CACHE CREEK. It began as a cattle ranch, and a roadhouse and store were established in 1860 on the old CARIBOO WAGON ROAD by Donald McLEAN, an HBC trader. Gradually Hat Creek House expanded into a full-service hotel. The ranch was owned from 1910 by Charles Doering, president of BC Brewing Co, and his descendants who sold it to BC HYDRO in the 1970s.
